Login FAQ


Here are some of our most frequently asked questions about logging in successfully.  This list will be updated periodically, so please check back for new additions.

 

What should I do if I forget my password but remember my login name?
If you know your user login name and need only your password, the quickest way to get it is to use the Password Recovery feature. This service provides your password almost immediately to your email account. An email address must be part of your registration record in order to use this service. Begin the Password Recovery process here or by clicking on the Password Recovery button located on the homepage.

What should I do if I forget my password and did not supply an email address when I registered?
If you forget your password and did not supply an email address when you registered, check with the LRC staff at your school. They may be able to supply your user login name and reset your password. If the LRC staff cannot provide it, ask them to contact Virtual Library Support or the Corporate Librarian on your behalf. Your request for your user login name and password reset must include your name, school, and student (or employee) identification number.  Once you can login to the library, go to "My Profile" and add your email address to your Virtual Library user record.

What should I do if I forget my login name?

How can I change my password?
You can change your password after you have logged in by selecting "My Profile" from the navigation buttons on the left side of the Main Menu page. You may change your password and update your email address or other items of your user record. Please note that you cannot change your user name, only your password.

 
 
I have used the Virtual Library at school, but cannot access it from home or work. Why?
You may be encountering a problem in the one of the following areas:
  • Browser
    You must access the site with Microsoft Internet Explorer. In addition, you must be using version 4.0 or greater.  You may not be able to login and use the site if you are using another browser.
  • Browser Configuration
    Your browser needs to be set to accept cookies and have JavaScript enabled. If you are experiencing problems, check that your browser is set correctly. If you are using AOL or a browser supplied by an ISP, be sure it is configured properly. Microsoft browsers are configured correctly with their default installation settings.
  • URL
    The address of the ITT Tech Virtual Library is http://library.itt-tech.edu
  • Internet access
    Try connecting to another website to test your connection.
